Economy
Tourism and financial services are the mainstay of the economy of Antigua and Barbuda.

This country is best known as an upmarket destination for exclusive tourists as well as an attractive place for business and investments.

The country is placed in a convenient time zone, sharing the same time as New York, Toronto, Central and part of South America, and falling five hours behind Europe in summer and four hours in winter which allows international business to be transacted easily within an appropriate time frame.

The country enjoys the highest per-capita income in the Eastern Caribbean, and the absence of personal income tax results in a higher level of available income than most Caribbean countries.

First rate professional services are widely available, including banking, law, accounting and business management.

Its communication systems are excellent and are considered as one of the best in the world.

Banking has been an important sector in the economy, with offshore banking as the one with major impact.

Since 1983, banking industry has grown rapidly. Working in cooperation with the private sector and international control institutions, the Government has improved Antigua’s banking environment through efficient controls and introduction of appropriate rules. (Regulations y Controls)
